Taftville is an important New England mill village, established during the Industrial Revolution and home to Ponemah Mills – once one of the largest cotton mills in the world. Visit the village and mill property, learn about plans for its preservation and reuse, and learn about the labor struggles that transformed this village to a French-Canadian enclave. Note: entry into the Ponemah Mills buildings may not be possible due to interior development progress. FREE. Please wear comfortable shoes and clothes.

This walk coincides with the Taftville Fire Co.#2 100th Anniversary and the 134th Annual Connecticut State Firefighters Association (CSFA) Convention and Parade hosted in Taftville. This is a three (3) day event, from September 15-17, 2017, culminating in one of the largest parades in Taftville/Norwich’s history on Sunday, September 17, 2017.
