The Ancient Norwichtown Burial Grounds opened in 1699 and served as the final resting place for many folks who lived in Colonial Norwich. The old stone monuments with their inscriptions and various art forms offer us a window into the lives of those who lived here 300 years ago…their view of the world, philosophy of life and death. Join expert, Dave Oat, as we explore death and burial traditions and learn that these ancient burial places are much like outdoor museums. They are filled with our countries first sculpture. These old stones tell a story of changing religious beliefs and family genealogy. You’ll find tales of tragedy and some humor. Join us in a stroll through an ancient burial ground and discover what can be learned if you take the time to stop look.

FREE. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes.
