Historically Speaking

On June 29th at the Otis Library, the Norwich Historical Society enjoyed a slide show presented by Maureen O Keefe, former Norwich resident. A business meeting was held following the presentation, and it was decided that for the months of July and August the Norwich office of the Historical Society will be closed. Phones to the Historical Society will be answered between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. by dialing their historic number, 886-l776.

The summer will be spent interviewing people and viewing photos for the book that is being planned entitled, "The Norwich Family Photo Album ".

A check for $ 10, 500 in grant money received from the R. S. Gernon Trust has been transferred to a special account at City Hall so that work on the second phase of the Samuel Huntington tomb can get underway under the direction of Public Works Director, Joe Loyacano.

The Historical Society is also looking for a part-time employee with office management skills, perhaps someone who is retired and has a love for history who could man the office for four hours a day. Anyone interested is assured that they will be underpaid and overworked. Those applying must love history. If you are interested, call 886-776 between ll:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
