DESCRIPTION:Due to limited sign ups and lack of interest\, unfortunately\, we are cancelling the Turner and the Sea guided tour at Mystic Seaport Museum on January 11\, 2020 at 10:15. We are disappointed and apologize for the inconvenience. \n————————————————————————————————————————– \nNHS Members have the opportunity to receive a private tour of J.M.W. Turner: Watercolors from Tate at the Mystic Seaport Museum on Saturday January 11\, 2020 at 10:15am. Tickets are $35.00 and must be purchased in advance. $35 includes cost of admission and the tour. There are only 20 tickets available. \nMystic Seaport Museum will host a major monographic exhibition devoted to the watercolors of one Britain’s greatest painters: J.M.W. Turner (1775-1851). This exhibit is organized in cooperation with Tate. Mystic Seaport Museum will be the only North American venue for the exhibition\, which will be on display October 5\, 2019-February 23\, 2020.The exhibition – curated by David Blayney Brown\, Tate’s Manton Senior Curator of British Art 1790-1850 – will provide an exceptional opportunity to see key works spanning the entire career of the famous artist. A unique collection of 97 works\, the selection will provide a view into the evolution of the artist’s vision and creative process. \nInformation about the tour: \nTurner and the Sea: \nJ.M.W. Turner explored the mystery of the sea in milestone watercolor paintings. Experience these masterpieces in person. Learn about Turner’s lifelong fascination with the sea and how it connects with themes explored by Mystic Seaport Museum’s permanent collection. Tours are approximately 45-55 minutes \nArrival: Please park in North parking lot across from the new North Entrance- Turner Exhibition Building (GPS: 102 Greenmanville Ave. Mystic\, 06355). Please cross street at crosswalk and enter through modern exhibition center.
