DESCRIPTION:Important 2020 Update: \nDue to the ongoing Covid-19 global pandemic and acting out of an abundance of caution\, the Norwich Historical Society has made the difficult decision to cancel the organization’s remaining programs for the 2020 calendar year. It is with great disappointment that we announce that Norwich Heritage Day will be cancelled this year. This is not a decision we have taken lightly\, but it was made with the safety of our volunteers and event participants in mind. We look forward to hosting the event in 2021; stay safe and be well! \n——————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————— \nEVENT IS CANCELLED: Norwich Heritage Day will take place on the Norwichtown Green on Saturday October 3\, 2020 from 10:00am – 3:00pm in coordination with the Last Green Valley’s Walktober. The goal is to build awareness of Eastern\, Connecticut’s rich heritage and cultural assets. \nIn addition\, we will be honoring Samuel Huntington\, Norwich’s signer of the Declaration of Independence\, in a special wreath laying ceremony commemorating the day he was elected President of the Continental Congress on September 28\, 1779. \nThis event will feature:\nHistorical Reenactors from various time periods\, Local Historical Societies/Organizations\, Historic House Museums\, Colonial Crafters\, Demonstrations such as cooking\, Crafts and Antiques for sale\, Games and hands on activities for children\, and Entertainment \nAvailable Event Parking: \nLimited Parking around the Norwichtown Green \nMeadows Center (walk through Burying Ground to Green) \nSamuel Huntington Mansion 34 East Town Street
