SUMMARY:Ye Antient Burying Ground
DESCRIPTION:The Norwichtown Colonial Burying Ground was established in 1699 and is a significant historic resource in Norwich. Join local historian\, Dave Oat\, on a walk through the old colonial burial grounds in Norwichtown. Here you will see a variety of hand cut colonial tombstones and discover what they can tell us about early life in Colonial Norwich. Dave will explain the history behind the various styles of headstone carvings while telling stories of important colonial era figures buried here. After the tour\, please check out the Norwich Heritage & Regional Visitors’ Center and the Joseph Carpenter Silversmith Shop along the Norwichtown Green. \nThis tour is sponsored by the Norwich Historical Society and is part of our Second Saturday Tour line-up. There will be a $5 suggested donation and we request pre-registration for the tour. \nPRE-REGISTER HERE \n1 Mile. Easy. Restrooms available. Please no dogs. No wheelchair access. \n

DESCRIPTION:This event will feature: historical reenactors\, colonial crafters\, demonstrations\, games and hands on activities for children\, and entertainment. The Joseph Carpenter Silversmith Shop Museum will be open from 11:00am -3:00pm and the Norwich Heritage & Regional Visitors’ Center will be open from 11:00am – 3:00pm. Additionally\, there will be a Tour of the Colonial Burying Ground starting on the corner of Elm Ave at 11:00am.
