Antient Ghosts of Norwich

Important Update for 2020:

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 global pandemic and acting out of an abundance of caution, the Norwich Historical Society has made the difficult decision to cancel the organization’s remaining programs for the 2020 calendar year. It is with great disappointment that we announce the Antient Ghosts of Norwich will be cancelled this year. This is not a decision we have taken lightly, but it was made with the safety of our volunteers and event participants in mind. We look forward to hosting the event in 2021; stay safe and be well!

The Norwich Historical Society’s mission is to preserve, protect and promote the rich history of Norwich, CT. Each year, the Norwich Historical Society hosts our most popular event: The Antient Ghosts of Norwich which is an evening guided tour through the Colonial Burying Ground in Norwichtown. There will be three tours leaving the Norwichtown Green on Friday October 29, 2021 at 6:40pm, 7:00pm, and 7:20pm.

The Antient Ghosts of Norwich tour is a part of the Last Green Valley’s annual Walktober celebration. As dusk approaches, guides escort visitors on a winding path, lit by flickering luminarias through the Burying Ground where visitors hear spooky tales and historical facts related to the history of Norwich. As visitors walk through the Burying Ground, they’ll meet some friendly spirits who have a story to tell and they will come across some spooky scenes with skeletons and witches dotting the landscape.

Ticket Information

Tickets for this event will be available for purchase on the Norwich Historical Society’s website beginning in September 2021. Tickets must be purchased in advance. No walk-ins will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the Norwich Historical Society.
