Important Update for 2020:
Typically, on the Friday before Halloween, the Norwich Historical Society hosts the Antient Ghosts of Norwich Tour. Unfortunately, due to the ongoing Covid-19 global pandemic, NHS canceled our in person programming and pivoted to a virtual platform. The Antient Ghosts of Norwich tour is a part of the Last Green Valley’s annual Walktober celebration. This virtual experience will guide you through one of Norwich’s oldest burying grounds at dusk where you’ll hear spooky tales and historical facts related to the colonial history of Norwich. We are hopeful that we will be able to offer this tour in person in 2021, but in the meantime, we hope everyone enjoys this virtual look at the Antient Ghosts of Norwich Tour: Click Here for the Video.
Stay safe and be well!
The Norwich Historical Society’s mission is to preserve, protect and promote the rich history of Norwich, CT. Each year, the Norwich Historical Society hosts our most popular event: The Antient Ghosts of Norwich which is an evening guided tour through the Colonial Burying Ground in Norwichtown. There will be three tours leaving the Norwichtown Green on Friday October 29, 2021 at 6:40pm, 7:00pm, and 7:20pm.
The Antient Ghosts of Norwich tour is a part of the Last Green Valley’s annual Walktober celebration. As dusk approaches, guides escort visitors on a winding path, lit by flickering luminarias through the Burying Ground where visitors hear spooky tales and historical facts related to the history of Norwich. As visitors walk through the Burying Ground, they’ll meet some friendly spirits who have a story to tell and they will come across some spooky scenes with skeletons and witches dotting the landscape.
Tickets for this event will be available for purchase on the Norwich Historical Society’s website beginning in September 2021. Tickets must be purchased in advance. No walk-ins will be accepted. All proceeds benefit the Norwich Historical Society.
