Norwich has a rich history of native sons, daughters, and a plethora of historical sites. Helping to preserve and promote the story of these local treasures is a daunting task. The Norwich Historical Society has faithfully worked to these ends over the past several decades.
The next few years will be a busy time for the Norwich Historical Society, as we develop a series of programs and special events to recognize several major anniversaries. These include the bicentennial of the Marquis de Lafayette’s Farewell Tour in 2024, the 350th anniversary of the construction of the Leffingwell House Museum in 2025 with the Society of the Founders of Norwich, and the bicentennial of the American Revolution in 2026.
Moving forward, we’ll also be developing strategic planning to ensure that the Norwich Historical Society is a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organization. We’re looking forward to completing the rehabilitation of the Greenleaf House, seeing the opening of Uncas Leap Heritage Park, and promoting Norwich as a destination for heritage tourism.
Would you help us to keep the progress of the Norwich Historical Society moving forward into the future?
