Before Norwich became the official home of the National Croquet League Championship, the game was enjoyed socially in backyards & on village greens like this shady spot. Along with instruction in this new & popular lawn activity is offered indoor instruction in the new & popular skill of Irish crochet. The Dirty Blue Shirts will provide context both for the evolution of croquet from a pastime to a sport and for the town’s Irish immigrant population.
